What happens if the child awakens when doing the Goulding Method?

A. That is not a problem as long as the parent doesn’t panic and creates more anxiety.

Just continue with the basic suggestions.

The reaction of a child awakening during the presenting is possibly one of anxiety, but in most situations they are still in an altered state of awareness.

The child may in fact sit up, with the whites of their eyes showing or they may say in a sleepy voice, Go away, What are you doing? or just acknowledge the suggestions.

The child may even agree with the parent, perhaps even nod their head as the suggestions are presented.

Any communicating movement or change is feedback, so just continue with the suggestions.
