Would you tell the child that you are presenting the Goulding Method?

A. No, never.

The conscious critical analysis would interfere and might negate the parent’s efforts.

Also, encouraging parents to present some of the basic suggestions throughout the waking hours will help to reinforce acceptance.

It is one thing to present the suggestions whilst sitting on the end of the bed where no–one can hear or see, but it might not be quite so easy out in the big wide world.

So, for that reason, it would be helpful to repeat the suggestions on a waking level during the day the same message for both the child and parent.

This is especially helpful if the person or parent conducting the Method has interpersonal difficulties or expression, or communication of fears. Both the child and the parent’s mind are listening each and every time.
